Most of you will think I'm crazy for doing this but somehow I managed to convince my boyfriend to take pictures of me yesterday. It was a blistering 14 degrees in New York City, but the windchill made it feel like it was way less. As soon as I felt the wind blow I immediately regretted my decision, lol. But I really wanted to get another outfit post in for this week so we snapped a few pics and ran home before our toes and fingers fell off. I decided to do a layered look to not only keep me warm but to also demonstrate that you can look fashionable in almost any weather!
Jacket: Old Navy
Beanie hat: Strawberry
Chambray shirt: Pretty Girl (as seen in this post)
Boyfriend Cardigan: Old Navy
Jeans/Scarf: Forever 21
Handbag: Michael Kors
Lipstick: MAC in Ruby Woo
Although I had on a tank top, chambray shirt, cardigan, boyfriend cardigan, jacket, scarf, beanie hat, gloves, leggings, jeans and wedges I felt super stylish! This look is perfect if you're heading to class, running errands, or hanging out with friends. My favorite part about layering is the mixing of colors, prints and textures. Searching for all of the pieces is like putting a puzzle together without knowing what the end result will be.
A big misconception about layering is that it will make you look bigger than what you actually are. By starting off with lightweight clothing and mixing lengths you can achieve a cohesive layered look. Feel like taking on the challenge? Read my previous post, "Dare to layer" for my tips on how to achieve a layered look.
Having a variety of coats and jackets make it easier to put certain outfits together in the winter. I recently purchased this jacket at Old Navy for about $20 (they have crazy sales). Since I was going for a comfortable look I knew it would be a perfect option because it's casual and not bulky. From there I selected neutral and bold colors that would go well together and finished it off with a few little details. I accessorized with a cute Michael Kors handbag, tribal necklace, leopard print scarf, royal blue beanie hat and a red pout.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, I truly appreciate it! Have a great weekend!!! Xo
