A few people have asked me about my skincare routine so I put together this post to share with you all what I do to keep my skin clean, moisturized and refreshed. These are all of the products I'm currently using at the moment. Although, I do like to switch up my facial products every now and then, these are my faves!
Cleaning your face is essential to having healthy skin, especially if you wear makeup. I start my mornings by washing my face with Clearasil Daily Clear Oil-Free Daily Face Wash (I've been using it for years!). I love the creamy texture because it leaves my skin feeling hydrated. Thus far, its been the best facial cleanser for me because it works well on my skin and saves me a ton of money since all I use is a pea-size amount. I then pat dry my face with a towel and proceed to apply a few pumps of Bliss Daily Detoxifying Facial Toner onto a cotton pad to remove any remaining makeup.
While toners are not necessary and I don't use it every day, it provides a ton of great benefits:
*Minimizes appearance of pores
*Hydrates and preps skin to accept moisturization
*Great for him to use post-shaving (sharing is caring!)
Once the toner dries up, I moisturize my face with Eucerin Daily Protection Face Lotion. The formula is non-greasy, gentle and has SPF 30 (I always use a moisturizer with SPF)
For the past few months I've been adding 3 to 4 drops of Josie Maran Argan Oil to my moisturizer because I have eczema (it gets worse during the Winter). Argan Oil, also referred to as "The liquid gold of Morocco", is extracted from the nut of the Argan tree, which grows only in the Moroccan desert. It's loaded with vitamin E and essential fatty acids making it great for the healing, conditioning and repairing of your skin, hair, feet, cuticles and even your baby's tush. I discovered this amazing oil through Birchbox and have been purchasing it every since. The 0.5 oz bottle retails for approximately $14.00 and lasts a pretty long time because you only use a few drops at a time.
The last part of my routine and one that I repeat throughout the day is apply EOS Lip Balm. These cute little sphere lip balms come in a wide array of flavors but my favorite one is Sweet Mint because I like the tingly minty feeling it leaves on my lips. For about $3 bucks you get a lip balm that's 95% organic, 100% natural, paraben/petrolatum free and is packed with vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil.
About once a week I exfoliate my face, typically at night. I'm currently using Neutrogena Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser and I really like it. Although the formula is strong I really like that it reduces the appearance of pores. The microbeads in this product effectively remove the dead skin from my face so I don't use it with a face sponge or scrub. However, if I've already exfoliated but need to remove some chapped skin I do so by applying regular facial wash to my cellulose sponge. Then I gently scrub my face with the sponge in a circular motion to remove flaky skin.
Now that I'm a bit older I have started using anti-wrinkle products ((sigh)). At night I moisturize my face with a combination of L'Oreal Paris RevitaLift Deep-Set Wrinkle Repair Night Creme and RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum. When searching for anti-aging or anti-wrinkle products make sure to do your research (some products cannot be used together due the chemicals in them).
I'm a firm believer that no matter how good a person looks you can almost always tell their age by looking at their eyes so that's why I've been using these eye creams. I alternate between these three:
1) Roc Retinol Correxion Sensitive Eye Cream
2) Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Eye Cream
3) Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye cream
I dab a small amount under my eyes twice a day. The Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream is great for puffy eyes and dark circles. The caffeine from coffee beans, Panax Ginseng, Magnolia Extract and natural optic brighteners rapidly wakes up, refreshes and restores radiance to tired eyes.
These makeup removers are my favorites because they don't irritate my skin and they're great for removing stubborn makeup like eye liner, waterproof mascara and long-lasting lipstick.
Tip: Vaseline is great for removing lipstick that doesn't come off easily.
I practice what I preach but sometimes I'm so sleepy the last thing I want to do is wash my face. On nights like that, I just use one of these makeup removing towelettes to get the job done!
