Special thanks to my mom for lending me her brooch which I pinned to my hat for a little extra vintage touch. Also, thanks Vero for snapping these great pics in the freezing cold! XOXO
I spent this past weekend in Brooklyn celebrating my mom's birthday with my beautiful sisters. We had a great time cooking an Italian dinner, watching old home videos and catching up. I was even able to squeeze in some time to put together this vintage-inspired outfit to showcase this bold purple lipstick by Bésame Cosmetics. This particular color which is called, "Tahitian Pearl" was developed exclusively for the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC small premium utility. The Lincoln color and materials design team researched several years ahead to identify possible color choices for the brand's first entry in the small premium utility segment. In my opinion, they nailed it! The deep plum color which has an iridescent finish is right on trend with the younger and savvy customers because it's dare I say, ADVENTUROUS!
Gabriela Hernandez, founder of Los Angeles-based Bésame Cosmetics, a Latina-owned boutique has been making vintage inspired cosmetics since 2004. From the detailed packaging to the luxury quality, Bésame Cosmetics is unlike any other makeup brand I've ever seen. Just by looking at the details of the products you immediately think of classic Hollywood starlets and their effortless glamour. As most of you know, Pantone named Radiant Orchid Color of the Year for 2014 ahead of fashion trends embracing purple. Gabriela took note of the increased popularity of purple lipstick this year and emulated the Tahitian Pearl color into her semi-matte lipstick. She said, "It has the power to really make the look, so you can keep the rest of the face simple and flawless." To bring Gabriela's vision to life, I decided to create a vintage-inspired look based on the Tahitian Pearl lipstick.
These days, women seldom have time to re-apply lipstick throughout the day, so long-wear is a priority for Besame lipstick. Denser colors provide longer wear, so they created a weightless, high-pigment formula that stays put with a semi-matte satin finish. The lipsticks are enriched with vitamins A, E and C, aloe and green tea. Read more about these vintage lipsticks here.
My entire outfit is from my favorite store…FOREVER 21!!!!!
Special thanks to my mom for lending me her brooch which I pinned to my hat for a little extra vintage touch. Also, thanks Vero for snapping these great pics in the freezing cold! XOXO

Hola beautiful people!!!!!!!
I'm so excited to be blogging again after taking some time off to pursue my career goals. I tend to be harsh on myself in every aspect of my life but the older I get the more I realize, it's okay that I don't have everything figured out. One of the things that helps me feel empowered no matter what I'm going through is my personal beauty journey. As a Latina pursuing a career in fashion and beauty I'm a social butterfly who's always on-the-go and L'Oreal Paris has me covered from head to toe. I'm thrilled to announce that I've partnered with L'Oreal Paris to share what makes me feel empowered as a Latina and my skincare regimen featuring the L'Oreal Paris Youth Code line.
Everyone is beautiful in his/her own way and for me L'Oreal Paris is my go-to brand because they have all of the beauty essentials I need to accentuate my natural beauty and because I'm worth it! - #PorqueTuLoVales
My schedule can get very hectic with work, family, chores, events, blogging and anything else that might come up so it's important that the products I use not only work but be easy to use. L'Oreal Paris totally gets the fact that women have a lot going on but don't want to project that in their appearance. L'Oreal Paris offers a wide range of beauty products, which cater to the needs of the Latina consumer like myself. I've used everything they make --cosmetics, hair care, hair color, nail polish and skincare. As I get older, things change and I can depend on L'Oreal Paris to cater to those changes with high-quality products that help me look youthful and radiant. To be honest, that's what I love most about L'Oreal Paris.
My Daily Skincare Routine with L'Oreal Paris Youth Code
STEP 1: I cleanse my face twice a day, once in the morning and again right before bed. I alternate my cleansers according to the condition of my skin but L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Foaming Gel Cleanser is one of my favorites because it's super gentle on my sensitive skin.
STEP 2: Immediately after washing my face, I moisturize my skin (I can't go anywhere without moisturizer). The L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector is suitable for all skin tones and can be used day & night. I love the texture of this cream, it makes my face feel petal-soft (literally!).
STEP 3: Next, I prime my face with a pea size amount of L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur to erase the look of pores and lines. It didn't make My Top 5 Favorite Primers list for nothing; this primer helps prevent sunburn (contains SPF 30) and works wonders on wrinkles so you can skip the foundation.
After I've cleansed, moisturized and primed by skin I'm ready to continue my daily beauty routine! It's quick, easy and truly makes me feel like I can take over the world ((insert evil laugh)).
The Youth Code line also has products specifically formulated for dark spots and improving the texture of your skin. You can learn more about all of the L'Oreal Paris Youth Code products by clicking here.
L'Oreal Paris has evolved so much and I'm glad they've included us fabulous Latinas! They really nailed it by providing us with the tools and step-by-step directions on how-to recreate our favorite celebrity look or even create our very own. I'm really looking forward to what they come up with next!
My Final Result
L'OREAL PARIS YOUTH CODE GIVEAWAY
This past weekend I was lucky enough to participate in a genius idea created by Benefit Cosmetics called, Wing Women Weekend! I'm a really big fan on Benefit Cosmetics so when I heard about the chance to win my own #BeautyBash complete with deluxe samples of their awesome products like, They're Real! Mascara and They're Real! Push-Up Liner I immediately entered. I was one of the 1,500 ladies that won the chance to invite 5 of their wing women to celebrate National Wing Women Weekend.
I'm really into event planning so I started coming up with ideas the moment I found out I won. I began researching Benefit Cosmetics a little more to help me come up with a cool theme. I decided that although it would be very girly I wanted to incorporate certain aspects about the brand in order to educate my wing women on the products and the Benefit company itself. I decided to decorate the snacks, sweets and drinks with an assortment of images that represent the three locations where they have a boutique - San Francisco, New York and London. I also wanted the decor to be original and detailed so I created almost everything myself and with some help of my friends.
Flowers - using tissue paper and pipe cleaners.
Beauty Bash Banner - out of construction paper and curling ribbon.
Backdrop - for the main table out of three plastic tablecloths.
Photo booth props - out of paper and wood round dowels.
Mustaches - using black felt fabric.
I wanted to give my wing women a little something special to thank them for coming to my Beauty Bash so I made each of them a makeup brush holder. I purchased small glass vases, colored sand and Nicka K New York makeup brushes to create a little home for their brushes.
The games we played at the party were so much fun! I came up with games that would incorporate the products Benefit sent so that the girls could learn about them and help each other apply it. Here's a list of the games we played:
1) In it to WIN-G it! - The winner won a full-size They're Real! Push-up Liner for the best winged eyeliner.
2) Hula for a Hoola - The person who could hula hoop the longest won the Hoola Bronzer.
3) Wing-O - The first person to mark of 5 of the boxes on the game board won the They're Real! Mascara.
4) Beauty Madlibs - An icebreaker for all of the ladies to get to know each other a little better.
I also put together some raffle prizes of my own to ensure that everyone went home with a little something extra!
Delaila and I explaining all of the games to our wing women.
We decided to combine out Beauty Bash to make it double the fun!
Jennie made a delicious drink we called 'Beauty Basher.' It consisted of Absolut Raspberry Vodka, cranberry juice and cotton candy!
Chilly's signature Jell-O shots with a touch of beauty bash decor!
The photo booth/selfie station
All of our wing women received a 'pretty in pink' mini manicure courtesy of Delaila.
We used these wall decal frames to post information and tutorials about each of the Benefit products.
A big thank you to Birchbox and Benefit Cosmetics for selecting Delaila and I to be part of the first ever National Wing Women Weekend!!! We truly had a great time and so did our wing women! Also, a special thank you to my sister Jackie for creating all of the images I needed to decorate, I love you!!! Thank you to my good friend Chilly for allowing me to host the party at her place, Xoxo! And thank you to all my girls for pitching in to help setup, I love you all!!!!

"I want to leave him, I know I should leave him...but I can't."
A statement we've all probably heard one too many times. A close relative of mine was a victim of domestic violence and like many women she left the abusive relationship only to come right back. "Why?" you might ask. Many of us only think of physical abuse when we consider domestic violence. Yet, financial abuse happens in 98% of all cases of domestic violence and is the number one reason domestic violence survivors stay, leave or return to an abusive relationship. As the primary caretaker of her two young daugthers, she was unable to financially support herself and her young children because she lacked the financial resources and education. Two-thirds of Americans believe that domestic violence is a serious problem, yet just 1 in 3 have ever talked about it. I decided to participate in the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge to break the silence and spread awarness about this difficult topic.
In 2013, I created a blog post about domestic violence and how the Allstate Foundation is investing money and raising awareness by creating Purple Purse. Purple Purse was chosen because a purse represents the center of a woman's financial domain and purple is the national color of domestic violence awareness. This year Allstate Foundation Purple Purse aims to make it fashionable to talk about domesitc violence and financial abuse, they have distributed Purple Purse charms so you can attach it to your favoirte bag and show your support year round (below). They've also teamed up with Emmy-nominated actress and domestic violence activist, Kerry Washington. She is serving as a Purple Purse ambassador to help raise awareness for the cause and has designed a limited-edition Coach purple purse (below) from start to finish. The program ignites fundraising for more than 140 national, state and local domestic violence organizations. Funds raised will support life-changing empowerment services to help domestic violence survivors build safer lives for themselves and their families.
We can all do our part to help ensure domestic violence survivors aren't financially trapped in an abusive relationship by joining the Purple Purse Challenge. The Allstate Foundation is investing more than half a million dollars in the Purple Purse Challenge. The more donations each nonprofit gets, the more
Allstate Foundation funding the organization is eligible to receive.
Visit PurplePurse.com to join the Challenge and help a nonprofit near you. The website also has important tips and tools to help you recognize domestic violence and financial abuse.
If you or someone you know needs immediate help, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or TTY 1-800-787-3224.

Whether I'm getting ready for work or play the most important accessory is my skin. That's why I always make sure to take very good care of it by drinking lots of water, getting plenty of rest, eating healthy and using great quality skincare products. Even if I'm just wearing jeans, flats and a t-shirt I still want to have even-toned/radiant-looking skin. Applying a lot of makeup can't correct dark spots, blotchiness or dull-looking skin but using products like the Neutrogena Visibly Even Foaming Cleanser, Daily Moisturizer and BB Cream can help you minimize those problems. Best of all, the Neutorgena Visibly Even Collection is clinically proven to effectively and gently deliver visible results in just four weeks!
Just like fashion, makeup trends come-and-go but this season is all about the no-makeup makeup look. Having clear/smooth skin is essential in nailing the no-makeup makeup look so I'm glad to have discovered these awesome Neutrogena products which are packed with ESSENTIAL SOY, an anti-oxidant filled with skin brightening properties. Keep reading for more details on each of the products from the Neutrogena Visibly Even Collection.
[That moment when you find a dope jacket in your closet that you've never worn! Hollleeerrr!!!]
NEUTROGENA® VISIBLY EVEN® Foaming Cleanser
My day begins and ends with a good foaming cleanser. What I like about the Neutrogena Visibly Even Foaming Cleanser is the gentle exfoliating beads it has. They help to refine my skin's texture, eliminate dirt and improve my skin tone after every wash. This cleanser is great on my dry skin because it rinses clean leaving me with soft, smooth skin.
NEUTROGENA® VISIBLY EVEN® Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
I don't play around when it comes to protecting my skin from the sun, so I love that this moisturizer is formulated with HELIOPLEX Techonolgy. Basically, it helps protect your skin against sun damage and signs of aging. The moisturizer also helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots and dullness after two weeks of use.
NEUTROGENA® VISIBLY EVEN® BB Cream SPF 30
I'm so picky when it comes to BB creams but I really like this one because it provides great coverage and leaves my skin glowing. The formula contains natural light diffusers that immediately reflect light and help reveal radiant, healthy-looking skin. I also really like that it has Broad Spectrum SPF 30 which helps prevent future dark spots from forming. Because let's be honest, ain't nobody got time for that! Lol.
My new skincare routine with the Neutrogena Visibly Even Collection helps me achieve my favorite natural, everyday beauty look which goes perfectly with whatever #OOTD I choose!
Ever felt like you were dreaming while doing something you've always wanted to do?
Well, that feeling pretty much describes how I felt last week while being behind the scenes at Cynthia Rowley, Rachel Zoe and Erin Fetherston's Spring 2015 Collections. I was able to chat with the celebrity makeup artists, hairstylists and manicurists that created the runway beauty looks. Below are a few techniques I learned straight from the pros and steps on how to achieve them at home. There's also an insider scoop on a must-have hair product from L'Oreal Professionnel debuting in the Spring.
Makeup artist, Daniel Martin stated Marianne Faithfull in the 1960’s was the inspiration behind the makeup at the Cynthia Rowley presentation. Daniel used the ‘Game Face Deluxe Eyeshadow Palette’ by Cynthia Rowley for the entire makeup look. Daniel told me he used the darker eyeshadows in the palette to contour because all of the darker shades worked for the different skin tones of the models. The palette debuts on Birchbox.com on October 8th and it contains: eyeshadow, highlighter, eyeliner and a brush.
Celebrity hairstylist, John Barrett utilized a flat iron and metal hair clips to create effortless looking waves in half the time it takes when using a curling iron. To achieve the look, simply twist small sections of your and wrap around metal hair clips. Then use a flat iron to apply heat to each section for a few seconds and voila! You now have the effortless waves everyone has been craving.
Find the right neutral nail polish that matches your skin tone and it theoretically elongates and slims the appearance of your fingers. It’s the perfect shade all year-round and a chip here or there won’t have you running to the nail salon. Chief Creative Officer at Cynthia Rowley, Abigail Lorick came up with the color/premise for the nail look. She used 12 different shades of beige and brown from the Color Club to compliment the skin tones of each model. Achieving this look at home is just like trying to find the right shade of foundation. Test out each shade on your nails until you find the one that blends well with your skin tone.
Even women with short hair can rock this trend, according to hairstylist Pepper Pastor; if the length of your hair covers your ears you can easily achieve the 60’s-inspired yet modern chic look she created for Rachel Zoe. For additional length she suggests folding a piece of hair extension in half and braiding it into your natural hair. To seal the look she used L’Oréal Professionnel Perfect Shimmer, which provides shine and hold in one product.
To recreate a version of this hair style at home, Pepper Pastor suggests a few simpler steps for a similar look:
1) Prep hair with L’Oreal Professionel Densite to detangle and add density to hair.
2) Create a center part.
3) Create 2 small tight braids one inch away from the hairline on each side of the part. Leave section of hair between hairline and braid loose to frame the face.
4) Gather the ends of the braids and tie together with the rest of the hair into a low ponytail.
5) Take the loose section you left loose (near the hairline) and secure ends over the braids into the ponytail.
6) Add shine with L’Oreal Professionel Perfect Shimmer.
7) Hold style in place with L’Oreal Professionel Infinium.
Insider scoop – L’Oréal Professionnel will debut a new product called, Next Day Hair. It’s formulated to give grip and texture to your hair, which is perfect for those days you want to style your hair right after washing it. (Debuts May 2015)
The Spring 2015 Erin Fetherston collection was inspired by budding images of quintessential English Rose with a Kate Moss 90’s feel. According to Gina Edwards, manicurist for KISS Products, Inc. the bright white nails are timeless and go along well with the lady-like collection. The gold stripping tape was added to reflect the gold details seen throughout the collection. Recreating this nail look at home is super easy; all you need is the KISS Active Oval Full Cover Nails, white nail polish, gold foil tape and a pair of scissors.
During Fashion Week, I attended a soirée hosted by Bella NYC Magazine. I enjoyed a beautiful evening with good company, cocktails, yummy hors d'oeuvres and an amazing view of New York City. I ran into a few fabulous bloggers while waiting to set sail on the City Clipper. We chatted about Fashion Week, took pictures together and had a nice time admiring the skyline.
How adorable is Aminta's bag from Betsey Johnson?!?!? <3
I usually don't wear flats but heels on a boat is a no go for me! I wore these peep toe wedges and I was glad I did because the boat was swaying from side to side the whole time.
This Michael Kors bag was a birthday gift from my hubby last year. It's perfect!
My date for the evening - Ada from Gypsy in the City. She looked beautiful in her vintage dress and bold lipstick/shoes. Loved all of it!!!
I went for a comfy/sweet look for the evening. So glad I had on a long sleeve top because it was pretty windy and cold.
I love watching the sunset. It never gets old!
The Statue of Liberty
The colors in the sky were incredible! :)
Hi dolls! I'm finally back up to speed after a fun-filled weekend celebrating my birthday and enjoying Fashion Week! On Saturday, I attended the rewardStyle NYFW Rooftop Party at the Empire Hotel. It was so hot and humid but honestly I had a blast! I linked up with my blogger boo, Tabitha from TheBobbedBrunette and we explored every inch of the rooftop. We scored a ton of awesome goodies, sipped on yummy drinks, mingled with other fabulous bloggers, learned about new brands and even scored a ticket to attend the Academy of Art University fashion show!!!!!! Yes, we DIED! lol
If you're not familiar with rewardStyle you should definitely check it out because it allows bloggers to create ready-to-shop-links for their readers. So let's say you like the skirt I'm wearing and you want to buy it, all you would have to do is look for the "Get the look" scroll bar at the bottom of this post and click on the image of the skirt. If the item is no longer available, rewardStyle allows me to search for a similar item and link that instead. Genius right?
My outfit was inspired by a look straight from the runway of Nicole Miller. I came across the image on Instagram and I instantly knew I wanted to attempt to recreate it. Click here to see who wore it better, lol. The entire outfit was $0 because everything was already in my closet. Lately I've been "shopping" in my closet first before running to buy something new. It's a great way to save money and practice the art of styling. Hope you enjoy the pics and thanks for stopping by! Xoxo
Zinke's booth was my favorite and their lookbook is so dope!

You know it's serious when they cover the runway with plastic. I almost busted my booty, lol.
Photobooth fun with Alana, Tabitha and Melissa!!!!
As most of you know, New York Fashion Week kicked-off yesterday and yours truly attended her very first official fashion show!!! I can't tell you how excited and grateful I was prior to the Perry Ellis show. I literally could not sleep the night before thinking about what the show would be like, who I would meet/see and what Perry Ellis has in the works. Although I do not blog about men's fashion I do pay close attention to what's trending. I mean who doesn't like a well-dressed man?
The fashion show lasted about 11 minutes, crazy right? I had no idea the actual show would be that short especially when so much planning and preparation go into it. Below is a short video that recaps all 38 looks from the Perry Ellis Spring 2015 Collection. The pictures I took did not come out that good but you can view images on instagram by searching for hashtag #VERYPERRY.
I knew a heat wave was coming so I wanted to wear something comfortable that would keep me cool but I had no idea what to wear -- #TheStruggle. I began my hunt for the perfect outfit by searching through my closets (always a great place to start!). I eliminated shorts, long pants and dresses from the equation because I was going for something a little different. I pulled out these culottes from ASOS and I instantly knew that these were IT! The black and white color scheme allowed me to select pretty much any colored top, so I went with this royal blue one that I purchased for $6.99!!! The flounce detail on the right side truly made it a perfect match for the culottes. My bold Russian Red lipstick and strappy heels from Forever 21 completed my look.
This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with PANTENE® and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Telenovelas started off as background noise to me back in the 90's when my mom used to watch Guadalupe. But as I got older I began to watch and love them! I always wondered how the actresses managed to look so perfect in every episode. Now I know that behind the scenes there's a team of hair stylists and makeup artists making sure everything is on point. But guess what? you don't need a glam squad to get the look!
Pantene Pro-V has partnered with Mexican singer/actress, Maite Perroni to release her new music video "Vas A Querer Volver." If you're familiar with Maite then you know her hair is always styled to perfection and in today's post I'm going to share a pictorial on how I re-created her gorgeous loose curls. I'm also linking a video with behind the scenes footage of Maite's new music video which also shows how Pantene Hairstylist, Gabriel Samra created her look.
Keep reading if you #WantThatHair and want to win a Pantene Product Bundle + $100 Walmart Giftcard!!!
The key product I used to re-create Maite Perroni's loose curls was the Pantene No Crunch Curls Whip. This product is a leave-in moisturizer and styler designed to soften curly hair and make it last for up to 48 hours. This product smells so good and won't weigh your hair down.
Visit your local Walmart for all of these great Pantene Pro-V products used to re-create Maite's look.
Pictorial on how to get gorgeous curls:
1) Apply Pantene No Crunch Curls Whip to damp hair. Just a handful will help detangle your hair, prevent frizz and define curls without that crunchy/sticky feeling. Then proceed to section off your hair into pieces, I start from the bottom and work my way up.
2) Using a 1" inch curling iron or wand begin to wrap medium-sized pieces of your hair around the barrel for 5 to 10 seconds. Then release the hair gently into the palm of your hand and hold for 5 seconds.
3) Brush your hair then texturize it with the Pantene Texturizing Sculpting Wax. Scoop out a small amount and rub in your hands then apply all over your hair from root to tip. This is great for getting rid of annoying fly-aways and softening your hair.
5) No hair look is complete without Pantene Flexible Hold Hairspray. Generously spray your entire hair and voilà! you're all done!
